On Monday around 11:15 p.m., deputies responded to a 911 open line on NC Highway 274.

As officers approached the home they noticed a woman standing on a side porch with blood on her face, hands, arms, legs, and feet.

She told officers that she was laying on the couch inside of the home when she and her boyfriend got into a verbal argument that escalated to a physical altercation.

During the altercation, the woman claims she was struck and chocked by Costner and left unconscious.

Police say she regained consciousness while on the floor and unlocked her cell phone to an open 911 line.

She said she was unable to speak because the suspect was holding his hand over her mouth.

She described her attacker to officers as an MMA fighter, before being taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Officers checked the home after arriving at the scene, but the suspect had fled.

Warrants were issued charging Costner with attempted murder.

Police say Costner was arrested Tuesday at the home without incident and placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center without bond.

Following a first appearance in court, authorities say bond was set at $100,000 for Costner.
