Rock Hill Police: Suspected Shooter Arrested In York South Carolina

Detectives with the Rock Hill Police Department have identified, 20-year-old Leopold Cockman as the suspect involved in the shooting that occurred on Wednesday, March 23rd.

Police say the victim was involved in an altercation with a separate person. As he attempted to exit his vehicle, Cockman fired numerous gunshots at the victim, according to a news release. The Rock Hill Police Department worked with the York County Sheriff’s Office to locate Cockman at an address in York, South Carolina on Wednesday, March 30.

Cockman was taken into custody without incident and has been charged with the following: attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a crime of violence, and discharging a
weapon into a vehicle.

ROCK HILL, S.C. — A 28-year-old was found shot on the front porch of a Rock Hill home early Wednesday morning, according to police.

The Rock Hill Police Department responded to a Cauthen Street home around 2:10 a.m. in response to a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers located the victim on the front porch with a gunshot wound to his upper left chest.

EMS responded to the scene and transported the victim to Piedmont Medical Center.

Police say they learned the victim was involved in an altercation in the roadway and was leaving in his vehicle when he was shot. The victim exited the vehicle and walked to the residence where police responded.

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing.
