MONROE, N.C. — Detectives have a charged a Charlotte woman with death by distribution for her role in the Fentanyl overdose death of a 20-year-old Indian Trail woman.

The Union County Sheriff’s Office say detectives finished their investigation into the death of 20-year-old Rachel Bjelde earlier this week, which occurred in December of 2021, and determined Bjelde died as a result of a Fentanyl overdose.

Investigators then began working diligently to collect evidence in order to identify the distributor of the Fentanyl that caused the death of Bjelde.

At the end of their investigation, USCO detectives identified Misty J. Davis of Charlotte as the distributor.

On Wednesday, detectives conducted a traffic stop which resulted in the arrest of Misty Davis along with Kaylan N. Knight of Waxhaw, N.C.

During the traffic stop, officers seized trafficking quantities of both Fentanyl and Methamphetamine.

Both Knight and Davis were taken to the Union County Jail and subsequently charged with numerous offenses including two counts of Felony Trafficking in Opium/Heroin and one count of Felony Possession with Intent to Manufacture/Sell/Deliver a Schedule II Controlled Substance, according to a news release.

Police additionally charged Davis with one count of Felony Death by Distribution and one count of Felony Possession with Intent to Manufacture/Sell/Deliver a Schedule II Controlled Substance for her role in the death of 20-year-old Rachel Bjelde.

Investigators say both Knight and Davis were taken before a local judicial official and placed under secured bonds.

Davis received a secured bond of $1,000,000 and Knight received a secured bond of $200,000, according to a news release.

Police say both Knight and Davis are still in custody at this time.
