CMPD: 14-Year-Old Arrested For Fatally Shooting Teen In North Charlotte

A 14-year-old has been arrested for the fatal north Charlotte shooting that left a teenage boy dead Tuesday morning, police say.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department took the juvenile suspect into custody Thursday for his involvement in the murder of William Avery III, the identified victim in the case.

The juvenile was transported to the Law Enforcement Center to be interviewed by homicide detectives.

After an interview, the teenage suspect was served with a secure custody order for 1st degree murder and transported to a juvenile correctional facility in Cabarrus County, according to police.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A 17-year-old was fatally shot in north Charlotte Tuesday morning, sparking a homicide investigation, according to police.

Police responded to Franklin Avenue, off of North Graham Street, nearby Olando Street around 11:30 a.m. after a report of an assault with a deadly weapon with injury call for service.

Upon arrival, officers located 17-year-old boy suffering from several gunshot wounds.

Medic transported the victim with life-threatening injuries to Atrium Main where he was later pronounced dead

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing.
