Charlotte Independence Prepares For Season Opener
The Jacks Get Ready To Take The Pitch At Memorial Stadium. Kelli Bartik Previews The Season Opener.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. The Queen City is the place to be for soccer fans this weekend.
Plenty of action starting with Friday night’s match at the recently renovated Memorial Stadium. The Charlotte Independence will open up the 2022 season in front of home fans when the Jacks host Central Valley Fuego FC.
In addition to watching the pros do their thing, fans can expect family-friendly entertainment including a game day DJ and fireworks.
Head Coach Mike Jeffries says Friday’s match will be a good measuring stick for his young team. “I feel like we’re making good progress and that we still have a lot of work to do. I’m definitely excited for the opener of the season,” Jeffries says.
“Guys have been working almost five weeks now and getting ready. I feel like our fitness is coming around, our sharpness on the ball is coming around. The first game, you always enter it and try and see where you’re at.”
