A Local Mother Sent Her Son A Message Of Love Moments Before He Was Murdered, Now She Demands Justice For His Killer
GASTONIA, NC. — The last text Christina Michaels sent to her oldest son on March 22nd: “I love you anyways.”
“That was at 5:18 when I sent that last text at about 5:40 I was stuck in traffic on I-77 on my way to pick up a car and I got a phone call that he had been shot in the face, that’s all we knew at the time that he had been shot in the face,” says Michaels.
Police say 19-year-old Uriah McCree was driving on I-85 South at Edgewood Road near Bessemer city during rush hour when he was shot. He was taken to the hospital where he died. Investigators are looking for a 2012 or later white dodge charger with dark tinted windows, spoiler, and possibly factory chrome times. They say it’s connected to McCree’s murder. Michaels says her son was a new father and his baby just took its first steps.
“He was a mama‘s boy. He was a new father who loved his baby boy so very much. This time last year we were getting ready for a baby, we’ve already buried my baby.”
The heartbroken mother is pleading for anyone with information about her son’s murder to come forward.
