Bear Gets Trapped Inside Family’s SUV In Buncombe County, Destroys Everything Inside

BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. — One family’s car in Buncombe County is a total loss after a bear got trapped inside then broke free.

The Asheville family says they noticed the incident while letting their dogs out Thursday morning.

During it’s escape, the bear destroyed everything from the car’s panels to parts of the dashboard and, oh yes, the car seats are all mangled.

While the bear scoured for a way out for roughly six hours, the family says they worried for the bear and it’s cubs.

“I am a little annoyed with the bears, but it was very distressing for me to see the bear, the mama bear, in distress and suffering inside my car,” Ashley McGowin said.

It’s unclear how the bear locked itself in the vehicle.

The family believes the bear somehow opened the door and then the wind forced the car door shut.
