Messy Monday Morning Ahead
Heavy rain and gusty winds will lead to travel headaches Monday morning, but the rest of the week looks fantastic.
Happy Easter! We’re wrapping up a gorgeous holiday weekend, but big changes lurk as we round into the second half of April. High pressure has set up to our north, which will filter much cooler air into the Carolinas overnight. At the same time, Gulf-based instability sweeps into the viewing area from the southwest. Expect rain showers and temperatures in the 40s overnight, leading to what will be a dreadful Monday morning commute. Rain totals will be on the order of 1-2″ for many south of I-40 by the time the moisture moves out in the afternoon.
The good news is that sunshine will dominate the Carolina skies for the remainder of the week. As winds quickly return from the south, expect highs to return to the 70s by midweek, and the 80s by the weekend.
