SLED: Former Kershaw County Investigator Arrested For Domestic Violence

KERSHAW COUNT, S.C. – Agents from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division arrested former Kershaw County investigator Cody Blackmon on Tuesday, April 19, 2022.

On April 14 at approximately 6 p.m. in Camden South Carolina, Blackmon, 32,  reportedly assaulted his former spouse in front of their two minor children.

According to a police report, Blackmon and his former spouse got into an argument when he grabbed her around the neck and threw her away from his patrol vehicle as she was unbuckling their children’s car seats. Deputies say the physical assault caused her to sustain bruises to her upper arm.

Blackmon was off duty but employed at the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office at the time of the incident.

The incident was captured on surveillance cameras. Authorities determined the footage was consistent with the statement given by Blackmon’s former spouse.

Blackmon was charged with second-degree domestic violence.
