Freight Train Plows Through & Destroys Teen’s Car Caught On The Tracks In Gaston County | VIDEO
GASTON CO., N.C. — A 16-year-old Shelby student’s car is destroyed after a train plowed through it on Wednesday.
The incident was captured on video by Thomas Owens, a local towing company owner. Marleigh Bailey and her friend were driving to a grocery store in Gastonia when her beloved Honda got stuck on the tracks. Marleigh says some guys in a tow truck pulled up on the tracks behind them and offered to help. But, there was no time. Within seconds, the railroad crossing arms came down, and the BNSF freight train was coming fast. Marleigh, her friend Julie, and the tow truck guys jumped out of the way.
“I love my car, my car meant everything to me. I had God by my side, that’s for sure,” says Marleigh Bailey.
Gastonia Police say this is the third case they’ve investigated over the past few months involving vehicles getting stuck in this same area. Marleigh, a junior in high school, just got her driver’s license last week, and she didn’t have collision insurance. Her family set up a Gofundme account to help her buy a new car.
