Retired Carolina Panther Thomas Davis Opens New “Tap & Vine” Restaurant In South Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A former Carolina Panther linebacker is starting a new business venture. Thomas Davis just opened up a new fine dining restaurant in south Charlotte called Tap and Vine Stonecrest. It’s located off Rea Road in the Stonecrest Shopping Center. It’s the restaurant’s second location. Along with a full menu, it features an extensive wine list. One of Davis’ business partners, who co-owns the restaurant with him, tells us the business is going great. Kevin Nelson says, “Thomas Davis and the Mauses, they’ve been associated with us for awhile, and we’ve known them for awhile and this is something we wanted to get going and its working out pretty good.” And, “We have a great menu, we have great people who work for us, and we’re just a little bit different than everything else out here.”

Davis also says on Instagram he has another big project he’s working on that he’s excited to share. He says the big announcement is coming soon.

Meanwhile, Davis’ former teammate Greg Olsen is working on something big of his own. The former tight end tweeted a short video Wednesday, saying he’s “coming back,” but gave no other details. He says an official announcement is coming Thursday. Olsen left the Panthers in 2020, then signed a one-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks. He joined Davis in signing a one-day contract with Carolina in 2021 to retire as a Panther.

And, the future is still up in the air for QB1. Cam Newton remains an unsigned free agent. The former Panthers quarterback has said he’s weighing his options. Carolina has not ruled out re-signing him just yet.

Our question of the night: would you want Greg Olsen to return to the Panthers?
