Catawba County Traffic Stop Leads To Arrest Of Three People

CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. — Deputies say a Catawba County traffic stop led to the arrest of three people on Wednesday.

During the traffic stop in northeast Hickory, investigators with the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office seized a total of 40.9 grams of methamphetamine, 13 grams of fentanyl, a pistol, brass knuckles and drug paraphernalia.

According to the sheriff’s office, Tracie Byrd, 29, was charged with trafficking in methamphetamine by possession and transportation, trafficking in opium by possession and transportation, maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Kenneth Jones Jr., 47, was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of drug paraphernalia, deputies say.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as 30-year-old Richard Gragg, was charged by authorities with driving while license revoked and carrying a concealed weapon (brass knuckles).
