Fallen Highway Sign on I-77SB Near Carowinds Boulevard Causes Backups

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Traffic on I-77 South near Carowinds is flowing Tuesday night after transportation crews cleared a collapsed sign near exit 90. The South Carolina Highway patrol said that a tractor-trailer carrying an oversized load hit the sign around noon.

That caused the sign to come down and hit a Hyundai SUV. Fortunately no one was hurt, but lane closures caused traffic back-ups most of the afternoon
