HICKORY, N.C. β A 45-year-old man has been arrested for robbing a Dollar General in Rhodhiss, North Carolina on Tuesday, October 31st, according to the Burke County Sheriffβs Office.Β
Police say the suspect, Johnny Lee Gum, allegedly entered the Dollar General and displayed a handgun to the clerks while demanding money. Gum left the store after receiving an undisclosed amount of money and cigarettes.
After an investigation, the Hickory Police Department arrested Gum without incident on Wednesday, November 1st.
Deputies executed a search warrant on Gumβs home at 1124 12th Street Northeast in Hickory. Police say they obtained evidence that was related to the crime.
Police took Gum to the Burke County Magistrateβs Office where he received a 48-hour hold with no bond. Gum was later put in the Burke County Jail.
Gum was previously arrested on June 26, 2023 for another robbery in Catawba County. At that time, he was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon.
