MINT HILL, N.C. – Officer Zickler with the Mint Hill Police Department was sent to the hospital after being struck by a vehicle while directing traffic on Thursday morning.
Zicker was conducting traffic directions at Mint Hill Elementary School on Idlewild Road. The driver of the vehicle that struck him remained on the scene and is cooperating with police.
The officer was transported to the hospital where he is currently resting with family awaiting surgery after reports indicated fractures to his lower extremities and wrist.
