Investigation Underway After Pedestrian Hit and Killed By Amtrak Train

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — One person has died after being struck by an Amtrak train in northeast Charlotte on Friday.

The accident happened at 4 p.m. according to Amtrak officials. The train was traveling from Raleigh to Charlotte. Officials say there were no injuries to the 116 customers or crew members on the train.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department says Old Concord Road and Cobblestone Glen Drive is currently blocked while authorities investigate. Police have not released details regarding the incident.

Drivers are being asked to avoid the area.
