CHESTER COUNTY, S.C. – A boil water notice was issued to Chester County, South Carolina following a major water main break in the town of Fort Lawn.
A boil water notice mandates that customers boil water for at least one minute prior to using it for cooking or drinking, according to the Chester Metropolitan District. The CMD added that bottled water should be used for children and pets.
Officials say the water main break resulted in a loss of service for local customers until repairs were made.
For those that are experiencing discolored water, CMD recommends customers flush their faucets until the water runs clear.
Anyone with severely discolored water should contact the CMD office by calling 803-385-5123.
