Poplar Drive Fire Is Now 250 Acres With 2 Homes Lost In Henderson County

HENDERSON COUNTY, N.C. – The North Carolina Forest Service is working to contain a wildfire that is up to 250 acres in size and has destroyed two homes.

The Poplar Drive Fire is burning in Edneyville, North Carolina in Henderson County. The state Forest Service said the fire is only 5% contained as of 9 a.m. on Sunday, November 5th.

Officials said that two homes and an outbuilding have been destroyed while another home suffered very little damage.

Personnel with the N.C. Forest Service, U.S. Forest Service, Office of State Fire Marshal, Edneyville Fire Department, Henderson County Emergency Management and fire departments from Buncombe, Henderson, Polk and Transylvania counties are responding to the incident.

Officials have ordered evacuation procedures for at least 34 structures that are currently threatened, according to the state Forest Service.

Officials said that no one has been injured. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
