Discussion:
Dry and warm weather will persist today with temperatures reaching the low 80s across the region. It will remain sunny and warm through much of the week with near record-breaking highs possible today through Thursday as temps are expected to rise a good 10+ degrees above average. A cold front will track through the region Friday bringing scattered showers across the area. Less than 1/2″ expected, but we will take what we can get as drought continues to worsen and wildfire activity is likely to increase. A burn ban remains in effect until further notice for Gaston, Cleveland, and Burke counties. Cooler temps arrive along with the cold front Friday as highs only reach the upper 60s. Rain chances wrap up Saturday as the front stalls south of the area. Temps will remain cool through the weekend with highs near 60 and lows falling to the low to mid-40s Saturday and Sunday mornings.
