Gaston County Child Death Investigation

GASTON COUNTY –  An investigation is underway after a child was found unresponsive on Tuesday, November 7th.

Officers with the Gaston County Police Department responded to a call on Lowell Bethseda Road around at 10:50 p.m. Upon arrival, officers witnessed an unresponsive child and performed CPR efforts and discovered while doing so the child swallowed unidentified blue pills, according to a news release.

Rhondasha Mcnair, 24

The child was transported to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Rhondasha McNair, 24 had been charged with second-degree murder without regard and felony neglect of child abuse. She is currently being held at the Gaston County Jail with no bond.
