Deputies: Husband Charged With Murdering Wife Following Domestic Dispute In Iredell County

IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. – Clarence Tyson, 69, has been charged with first degree murder against his wife, according to a media release.

On Monday, November 13, 2023, Iredell County Sheriff’s deputies were contacted after a 68-year-old woman was brought to the hospital following an assault. A press release states that the woman’s husband, Tyson, brought her to the hospital. The victim, Rebecca Tyson, succumbed to her injuries, according to a news release.

Iredell County Sheriff’s Office states that deputies spoke with Tyson and learned a domestic altercation occurred at the residence and it was later secured as a crime scene.

Evidence obtained by homicide detectives and crime scene investigators showed Tyson assaulted his wife at the residence, as said in the media release.

Authorities say an autopsy of Rebecca Tyson showed her cause of death was strangulation. The release further states she had several broken bones and severe bruising from the assault.

Detectives charged Tyson with first degree murder after determining the cause of death.
