Five Suspects Arrested In Mooresville For Organized Thefts At Lowe’s Stores

MOORESVILLE, N.C. – Five men in Mooresville were arrested Wednesday after making fraudulent rental transactions on heavy equipment at several Lowe’s Home Improvement stores, according to the Mooresville Police Department.

The suspects – Javon Tyrell Williams, Anthony Ray Jones, Latrayvion Lee Alston, Oroyster Miles III, Marcus Jamel Myatt –  were arrested on Wednesday, November 15th. All five were charged with four felony counts of organized retail theft, conspiracy, attempt to obtain property by false pretenses and possession of stolen property.

Police started conducting an investigation on Friday, November 10th after receiving a report from Lowe’s Corporate Security about stolen heavy equipment at a store in Mooresville.

The investigation found that the suspects would allegedly place ads on social media about selling heavy equipment. Police say when buyers inquired to buy a piece of equipment, the suspects would then fraudulently rent the equipment from a Lowe’s store with intentions of selling it to the unaware victims.

Undercover investigators supposedly found an ad and agreed to meet up with the suspects in Mooresville to make a transaction with a piece of stolen equipment.

Detectives arrested the suspect group after they arrived at the meeting spot. Police returned the stole equipment, worth approximately $40,000, to Lowe’s Corporate Security.

The five suspects remain in the Iredell County Detention Center with no bond.

This case remains under investigation by the Mooresville Police Department. Additional charges are expected.
