A great weekend forecast is about to unfold
A look at your weekend forecast and the next rain chance
EXCERPT: An incoming cold front won’t bring us the drought-busting rain we need, but it will set us up for a sunny Saturday and Sunday.
SUBTITLE: Significant rain chances return to the forecast by Tuesday.
A cold front is pushing our way from the West and that front will tap into some moisture for those traveling on the Western side of the mountains, but it remains to be seen how much we could get out of it. Minimal amounts at best. As it pushes over the mountains, the air is lifted and it will squeeze out most of the rain on the Western side. Look for the chance of a shower here at home later tonight or this evening.
The drought-denting rain we so desperately need may arrive to kick off the workweek. A powerful area of low pressure will develop east of the Rockies this weekend before digging into the Deep South on Monday. Significant rain chances arrive overnight Monday into Tuesday as it lifts northeastward. We may need to watch for a marginal severe threat in addition to heavy rainfall if we get enough warmth and instability Tuesday afternoon. Most locations in the WCCB Charlotte viewing area can count on at least a half-inch of rain through Wednesday morning, with locally higher amounts approaching two inches. Clearing comes by Wednesday afternoon, followed by a sunny and chilly Thanksgiving Thursday.
