VALE, N.C. – A 65-year-old woman died in Lincoln County Friday night after failing to stop at a stop sign before being struck by another vehicle, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
The collision happened at approximately 5:15 p.m. on Friday, November 17th at Reepsville Road and Cansler Road.
Police say a 2002 Toyota RAV4 was traveling west on Cansler Road. The driver, Susan Willis Wilson, failed to stop at the stop sign and was subsequently hit by a 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe traveling south on Reepsville Road.
Officers closed the roadway near the area for approximately two hours to conduct an on-site investigation.
Wilson died at the scene due to her injuries. The Tahoe driver, 56-year-old Desma Ann Hart, and a juvenile passenger were taken to Atrium Health Lincoln to be treated with non-life threatening injuries.
Police don’t believe speed or alcohol were factors in the crash, according to the initial investigation.
No charges have been filed for this case.
