Fatal Crash Near Columbia Leaves One Dead

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, S.C. – One person was killed Saturday night after driving off the road and striking multiple trees, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The collision occurred on Greenbrier Mossydale Road near Paper Road, approximately seven miles south of Winnsboro and 25 miles north of Columbia, South Carolina.

At approximately 8:21 p.m., a driver operating a 1996 Buick sedan was traveling south on Greenbrier Mossydale Road. The driver allegedly crossed the centerline, traveling off the road to the left before striking several trees.

The driver died at the scene of the collision. The driver’s name has not been released.

This collision remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol. No further details have been released at this time.
