CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A female pedestrian was struck and killed by an SUV in NoDa in the early morning hours on Thursday.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police identified the woman as 58-year-old Lisa Pettis.
Police responded to the 2800 block of The Plaza near Brook Road around 12:03 a.m. on Thursday, November 30th. Officers located a 2021 Hyundai Kona and a woman suffering from life-threatening injuries in the roadway.
Medical personnel transported Pettis to Atrium Health Main where she was pronounced dead.
Police’s initial investigation found that the driver, Joanna Green, that struck Pettis was wearing her seatbelt and wasn’t impaired. Investigators say that Pettis was not in a crosswalk when she was attempting to cross the street.
The incident remains under investigation. No charges have been filed at this time.
