Police Arrest Gaston County Man For Discharging Firearm In Neighbor Dispute

GASTON COUNTY, N.C. – Police arrested one male suspect after he discharged a firearm outside his residence that led to a dispute with neighbors.

Officers responded to 1718 County Line Road in Kings Mountain after receiving reports of shots fired. Police say that Robert Joseph Rice, 50, was firing his weapon outside his house that caused a neighbor dispute.

As police arrived at the residence, 50-year-old Robert Joseph Rice allegedly fired a shot again before retreating inside his house.

Gaston County Police and Crisis Negotiators negotiated with Rice on the phone for hours before he exited the home. 

Police took him into custody and charged him with two counts of communicating threats, one count of discharging a firearm and one count of resisting, delaying or obstructing a public officer.

Rice remains in custody at the Gaston County Jail with a $10,000 secured bond.
