Intentionally Set House Fire In West Charlotte Displaces Five Adults, Seven Children

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – One person is in custody after intentionally setting fire to a house in west Charlotte that displaced five adults and seven children, according to the Charlotte Fire Department.

Firefighters were dispatched to a home off Columbus Circle near Freedom Drive to control a fire set to a single story structure. CFD were able to control the fire within 10 minutes, and no injuries were reported. 

The fire was first reported just after 9 p.m. on Friday, December 1st.

The initial investigation determined that the house was intentionally set on fire, and one individual has since been arrested. 

Five adults and seven children were displaced due to the fire. Authorities say the American Red Cross is assisting the family at this time.

The estimated property loss is approximately $30,000.
