Milder temperatures will replace the cold plus a chance of rain soon

The next rain chance

A turn around in the temperatures and a wet Sunday Forecast

EXCERPT: Warmer SW winds will fuel temperatures back into the 60s before a powerful rainmaking system arrives on Sunday.

SUBTITLE: The overall severe threat is still low on Sunday, but we’ll need to stay weather-wise.

We will see a reprieve from the recent cold morning lows and begin to warm up the next few days.  Highs will likely crack the 60s around the Metro on Friday despite building clouds throughout the day. The temperature incline continues into the weekend; the Queen City may even flirt with the 70s ahead of a powerful rainmaking system that arrives on Sunday.

If you are planning outdoor activities Saturday, clouds may slow you down, but the rain chances largely hold off until Saturday night. The incoming system is poised to spawn a severe outbreak across the Mid-South and Deep South on Saturday, but will significantly weaken as it treks over the Appalachian Mountains. Even still, we’ll want to stay weather-wise for a few strong storms packing lightning, heavy rain, and gusty winds on Sunday. A quick spin-up tornado isn’t quite out of the question for areas south and east of Charlotte, either. Widespread shower and storm activity will taper overnight Sunday into Monday. Rain totals will end up between a half-inch and an inch-and-a-half through Monday morning. The start of next week is looking sunny and cool.
