Here comes the weekend and … Here comes more rain. We need it.

A Level 1 out of 5 severe risk has been posted for areas mainly east of the Queen City on Sunday.

A Quick Rise In Temperatures With A Wet Sunday

Clouds will be with us the next few days, but don’t let that stop your Saturday plans. Saturday will be the better of the two weekend days!  A warm Southwesterly wind will usher in mild temperatures into the first half of the weekend before rain chances spike Saturday night into Sunday.

A powerful cold front sweeps into the Carolinas by the end of the weekend, bringing showers and storms along with it. While the overall severe threat is low, we’ll need to watch for a few severe storms Sunday afternoon, particularly east of the Metro. The strongest cells could bring heavy rain, lightning, damaging winds, and even a quick spin-up tornado. However, most of us, especially east of I-77, will only see widespread gusty showers throughout the day. A Level 1 out of 5 risk for severe weather has been posted for areas east of the Queen City on Sunday. Cold and very dry air packs in behind the front on Monday, leaving us with sunshine in the Piedmont and snow showers in the mountains.  Cold high pressure will drop the temperatures again just like last week as the roller coaster goes downhill again.
