LANCASTER, N.C. – A South Carolina inmate died from a fentanyl overdose on from August 13th. The suspected distributer was charged December 7th, according to a news release.
According to court documents, between August 13th, and August 14th, 29 year-old inmate, Jonathan Beam was charged with distribution of schedule II controlled substances at the Lancaster County Detention Center. It was reported that law enforcement located a powdery substance during a cell search, that later tested positive for fentanyl.
Court documents reveal an inmate died after using the narcotic obtained from Beam. Beam was charged with three counts of distribution of fentanyl.
The case was investigated by South Carolina Law Enforcement Division. (SLED)
