Police Searching For Runaway Teen In Kings Mountain

KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. – The Kings Mountain Police Department are searching for a 17-year-old girl that ran away from home Wednesday morning.

Police were notified that Amelia Caroline Upton was missing from her home at 700 Groves Street in Kings Mountain on Wednesday, December 13th at 4:30 a.m. Upton suffers from autism and police say she lacks the capacity to make rational decisions with other behavioral and learning disabilities.

Officers discovered from video surveillance footage that Upton left the home willingly shortly after midnight. She also supposedly left a note at the residence indicating that she was running away from home.

Upton is 5-foot-4 and weighs between 120-130 pounds. She has long blonde hair and hazel/blue colored eyes. 

Police say she was last seen wearing a possibly grey toboggan, a black and grey jacket, black pants and dark colored shoes. She left her home carrying a light-colored duffel bag and a backpack
