Suspect Not Identified in South Charlotte Homicide Investigation

CHARLOTTE, NC –People living in a south Charlotte neighborhood are still in disbelief over a homicide that happened near their homes Tuesday night.

A source tells WCCB Charlotte that the deadly shooting started with two families confronting each other over the alleged sexual assault of a teen girl.

This happened just after 9 o’clock Tuesday night on Meadowridge Drive.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department says 36-year-old Brandy Cox was shot and killed outside of the house. 40-year-old James Cox was also shot. CMPD says he has non-life threatening injuries.

Our sources say Brandy Cox is the mother of the girl who was allegedly sexually assaulted, and James is her father.  The two are from Virginia.

The name of the accused shooter has not been officially released, but a source tells us he is the person accused of assaulting the teen girl.
