Local Paramedics Bring Holiday Cheer To The Ronald McDonald House
CHARLOTTE – Guests at the Ronald McDonald House of greater Charlotte got a sweet and tasty holiday surprise Thursday morning. The EMT’s of Charlotte came together to make and serve a five star breakfast for the guests staying at the house, as well as wrap all the donated gifts.
“We’re there when people have their worst days,” said paramedic Lester Oliver. “Today, we’re here in one of their best days, making breakfast for these families, bringing some cheer to some of our patients, and it’s really amazing.”
Ronald McDonald house is a place for families to stay while their child is receiving long term care in the hospital. They help alleviate some financial burdens for families with sick children. Over the years, they’ve help families around the world save more than 600 million dollars in hotel and meal expenses. Here in charlotte, local paramedics are happy to lend a helping hand during the holidays.
“I as a father of an 11 year old who’s been at the hospital for three or four days with some illness, I know how hard that can be,” says Oliver. “I just can’t imagine what these families are going through their their kids, have severe treatments. They’re here for extended periods of time, and having the support of the Ronald McDonald house really makes a huge difference for these families.”
