Rowan County Man Arrested For Child Abuse

ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. – A Rowan County man is behind bars after a months-long investigation into him for child abuse.

Christopher Coogan, 38, is accused of hitting a child in the head with a highchair tray that left a two-inch cut on the child’s head. He’s also accused of sexually abusing the same child.

Coogan also allegedly hit another child so hard that he left a handprint bruise on them.Β 

Police’s investigation into this case began on August 31st after receiving a report of possible child abuse.

He faces two counts of felony charges for child abuse and one count of indecent liberties with a child.

Coogan is being held at the Rowan County Detention Center on a $35,000 secured bond.
