Stolen Car Found With Child Inside

CHARLOTTE -Wednesday night, a fathers stopped at a Circle K on Sunset Road.

Police reports don’t say what the father was doing when his 2023 Dodge Challenger was stolen from the gas station.

The worst of it; his five year old daughter was in that car.

WCCB’s Emma Mondo spoke with Charlotte residents to get their reaction.

“I have four little nieces, one of which is brand new, and I mean, it’s terrifying to hear,” said Andrew Noel.  “I mean, I would probably just run straight after the car. I can’t imagine what my brother or what my sister in law would do if that was their kid. I mean, just sheer blind panic.”

Thankfully, when police arrived on scene, they were able to locate the car a short distance away. The little girl was inside, completely unharmed.

“Well, there’s a Happy ending to this story, so that’s a good thing. And hopefully people can learn from this and move on,” says local, Troy Penny.

Police aren’t moving on just yet though. Even though the car was abandoned and the little girl was found safe, the suspect did steal a firearm from the vehicle. That was a slate blue Glock 9mm with an extended magazine.

The suspect is facing charges of vehicle theft, larceny and kidnapping. The Police are still on the hunt for that person.

“You just hope justice is served,” says Penny, “and whoever committed this crime is caught and brought to justice fairly, and hopefully that’s what you want to see.”
