Temperatures will drop like the ball in NYC very soon
A colder start to 2024
2024 weather comes in like a lion
We leave 2023 mild and head into 2024 colder
Lows will bottom out in the 20s and 30s for the remainder of the year.
An incoming cold front will shut the door on our recent warmth and overnight lows dip into the 20s and 30s to start the day on Friday. An upper-level low that has been bringing blizzard conditions in the Central US swings in behind the front and it will bring snow showers to the High Country and cold, dry air everywhere else. A stray flurry in the Foothills and northern Piedmont can’t be ruled out, but most remain precipitation-free for the remainder of the year.
Highs will struggle to clear the 30s and 40s this weekend despite abundant sunshine. A few clouds build into the Carolinas on New Year’s Eve, but rain chances remain rather low. Our next chance for rain comes on the first Tuesday of 2024 as a trough attempts to sweep some Gulf moisture our way, but significant rainfall is unlikely. The first week of the new year looks mainly dry and sunny with near-normal temperatures in the 40s and 50s.
Tonight: Clear and chilly. Low: 32°. Wind: SW 5-10.

Saturday: Another chilly day. Mountain snow continues. High: 49°. Wind: W 5-15.
