It looks like baby New Year needs a coat

Mountain snow and Canadian air will be here soon

Baby New Year Needs A Coat

2023 goes out with a cold note as Canadian air spills into the forecast.

Most communities will wake up to below-freezing temperatures as we slide into 2024.

A cold front passed by leaving us with a shot of winter air and more on the way to wrap up 2023.  Mountain snow continues into Saturday before ceasing by the evening. Highs will top out in the 30s and 40s for most communities again through the weekend’s first half.

New Year’s Eve Sunday will be seasonal, but it will still feel like winter with highs in the 40s and lower 50s. Scattered clouds will build in overnight as we enter the new year, but rain chances remain low through the weekend. 2024 will start on a grayer note with near-average highs. A few rain chances crop up in the heart of the first week of January, but high-impact weather is not in the forecast. Models show another round of mountain snow arriving mid-to-late week, but the white stuff doesn’t appear to be in the cards for the Piedmont just yet. Ok, so your saying there’s a chance!
