CHARLOTTE, N.C. βΒ A fire that caused approximately $250,000 in damages at a Charlotte hotel Saturday night was caused by carelessly discarded smoking materials, according to the Charlotte Fire Department.
The fire was first reported just after 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 30th. It took place at the Golden Green Hotel off East Independence Boulevard.
Smoke was showing when firefighters arrived, and the fire went to a fourth alarm at 8 p.m, CFD said. CFD was able to control the fire in 80 minutes by 8:57 p.m.
Medical personnel treated six patients, and one of which was transported with minor injuries.
CFD say the fire was contained to one room and was likely caused by carelessly discarded smoking materials. Thereβs also a potential electrical failure, according to the investigation.
An estimated $250,000 in property was damaged in the fire.
This incident remains under investigation.
