Stanly County Community Rallies Around Family-Owned Restaurant Gutted By Fire

ALBEMARLE, NC — A four-alarm fire caused extensive damage to a popular restaurant in Albemarle.

It took 40 firefighters from multiple agencies several hours to put out the fire Wednesday morning at Jay’s Seafood Restaurant.   Fire officials say the structure was built back in the 1950s or ’60s.  The restaurant was closed over the New Year’s holiday, so authorities aren’t sure how the fire started.

No one was hurt in the blaze.  People traveled from as far away as Davidson and Concord after hearing about the fire.  They’re hoping the owners will rebuild.
