BELMONT, N.C. – Three suspects have been arrested after attempting to rob someone in a Lowe’s parking lot and initiating a police chase.
Antwone Cunningham, Damien Warren and Tarron Scott have been identified as the suspects.
The incident started around 10 p.m. on Thursday, January 4th.
Police were notified of individuals in a silver car attempting to rob someone in a Lowe’s parking lot at 200 Caldwell Farm Road. Shortly thereafter, officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop with the car in question, but the suspects refused to stop and fled.
Police pursued the vehicle from Caldwell Farm Road into Mount Holly. The vehicle was traveling south on Tuckaseege Road before it ran off the road, hit a tree and rolled over to a resting point on Marina Village Drive.
The driver, Cunningham, fled towards Riverfront Parkway. The two rear passengers, Warren and Scott, exited the vehicle towards the Riverfront Apartment Homes.
Police say Cunningham was apprehended by police and a canine unit. Warren and Scott were caught by police at the Riverfront Apartment Homes.
Warren and Scott were taken to Gaston County Jail and charged with resist, delay and obstruct, and flee the scene of a motor vehicle collision.
Cunningham has been charged with the following:
- Flee to elude
- Careless and Reckless driving
- Speed over 65 mph
- Fail to stop at steady red light
- Fail to maintain lane control
- Failure to reduce speed
- Resisting public officer
- Expired registration
- Fail to burn headlamps
- Possession of marijuana up to ½ ounce
Police say they also found a loaded gun in the suspect’s vehicle.
