Man And Woman Face 42 Combined Charges For Breaking Into Storage Units, Child Abuse

IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. – A man and woman in Iredell County face 42 combined charges for breaking and entering into multiple storage units and child abuse, according to a news release.

Amanda Sue Jones, 38, and Robert Dale Morton, 29, were arrested at a motel in Huntersville on Monday, January 8th.

Police received reports from Troutman and Mooresville about storage units being broken into. The victims reported to police that the locks were cut off and items inside were stolen.

In the investigation, detectives reviewed video surveillance and identified a Ford Expedition used by Jones and Morton. Police say that Jones and Morton’s four-year-old daughter was in the car when they committed the crimes.

Jones and Morton both face seven felony charges of breaking and entering, seven felony charges of conspiracy and seven counts of child abuse.

Both were issued a 250,000 bond.

Police say they believe Jones and Morton could have committed more crimes in other jurisdictions, and more charges are pending following the investigation.
