78-Year-Old Man Charged For Tying Wife To A Bed With Duct Tape

IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. – A Davidson man has been charged for forcibly restraining his wife by tying her to a bed with duct tape, according to a news release.

Grover Cleveland Meetze III, 78, was arrested on Wednesday, January 10th.

Deputies responded to 1661 Mecklenburg Highway in connection to a domestic assault situation.

Officers spoke with Home Health Workers who said that the 80-year-old victim suffered injuries from allegedly being forcibly restrained.

An investigation into the case revealed that Meetze allegedly tied his wife to a bed with duct tape on multiple occasions, resulting in her injuries.

Police charged Meetze with one felony neglect of a disabled or elderly person with injury, misdemeanor false imprisonment, and misdemeanor domestic violence.

Meetze was not issued a bond.
