Elderly Couple Found Dead In Home With Extreme Heat

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – An elderly Spartanburg couple were found dead inside a home with extremely high heat.

Firefighters say the inside of the home was “like an oven” with the furnace exceeding 1,000 degrees. This is about 250 degrees higher than it should be. 

The couple’s home was a blistering 120 degrees, which was hot enough to make the candles inside melt.

Joan Littlejohn and Glennwood Fowler, both in their 80s, were found dead in their bedroom.

An autopsy on the two victims was performed, but more testing is needed to determine the cause of death.
