Arctic Air Spills Into The Carolinas Wednesday AM
The coldest air we've seen in over a year arrives Wednesday morning
Wind Chills will be an issue for the QC by Wed AM
True Arctic Air will be rushing in as we wake up on Wednesday. Our mountain counties will start Hump Day near 0° with wind chills well into the negatives.
Temperatures will barely make it to 40° Wednesday afternoon in the Queen City before another bone-chilling night. Highs recover a bit toward the back half of the week but remain below average. A weak disturbance sweeps into the Carolinas by Friday morning, which could lead to a few flurries into the North Carolina Piedmont, but totals will be negligible. Mountain snow is also likely as we head into the weekend, although it won’t be as much as what we saw on Monday. More frigid air crashes into the Carolina on Saturday; the weekend (for a change) looks cold and dry around Charlotte.
Tonight: Clearing and frigid. Subzero mountain chills. Low: 18°. Wind: NW 5-15. Gusts: 20+
Wednesday: Cold sunshine. High: 42°. Wind: W 5-10.
Wednesday Night: Another cold night. Low: 21°. Wind: SW 5-10.
Thursday: Sunny and a bit warmer. High: 48°. Wind: SW 5-15.
