Two-Alarm Fire Damages Unit In Ballantyne
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – An accidental fire damaged an apartment complex in Ballantyne early Sunday morning, according to the Charlotte Fire Department.
The fire started in the HVAC unit in the attic, Charlotte Fire said. Neither civilians or firefighters were injured in the incident. The fire was later deemed accidental.
At approximately 1:47 a.m. on Sunday, January 21st, firefighters responded to Fiddlers Roof Lane near Elm Lane to battle a fire already showing smoke. The fire was upgraded to a second alarm shortly after.
Over 50 firefighters in total responded to the fire and controlled it in 24 minutes.
An estimated $155,000 was lost in property damage. The abutting unit sustained minor damage.
Two families have been displaced due to the fire.
