MATTHEWS, N.C. – A 14-year-old juvenile faces 11 total charges in connection to six criminal investigations in Matthews, police announced Wednesday.
Around 3 a.m. on Monday, January 1st, Matthews officers responded to the Auto Finance Center at 11201 East Independence Boulevard in regards to an activated security alarm. One of the officers arriving said they saw a vehicle leaving the parking lot that looked similar to a previous vehicle theft incident last month.
Officers attempted to make a traffic stop with the vehicle but the suspect fled at a high rate of speed. Police found the vehicle, which was later determined to be stolen from the Auto Finance Center, abandoned in a nearby parking lot.
Police were able to find the suspect’s home where they identified the suspect as a 14-year-old juvenile.
MPD said the suspect was connected to six active criminal investigations in Matthews.
The 14 year old faces 11 total charges, including:
- Motor Vehicle Thefts – 4 charges
- Breaking And Entering To A Building – 2 charges
- Breaking And Entering To A Building, Attempted – 1 charge
- Theft Of Auto Part – 1 charge
- Possession Of Stolen Motor Vehicle – 1 charge
- Flee To Elude Arrest – 1 charge
- Resist, Delay, And/Or Obstruct An Officer – 1 charge
