Feeling Like Spring
Drier air and near-normal temperatures finally return after a soaker of a Saturday.
We’ve made it to Friday, and we’ll be rewarded with the warmest air we’ve seen in nearly two months. While a few showers may linger through sunrise, we’ll largely dry out by noon – and may even see some peeks of blue sky later in the day. Highs will top out in the 60s and 70s for the final afternoon of the workweek. Unfortunately, the rain isn’t done with us just yet. Another moisture-laden system rides along the slow-moving front stretching from the Gulf to the Mid-Atlantic into the weekend, bringing widespread shower and storm activity to the Carolinas by Saturday morning. Rain, heavy at times, can be expected throughout Saturday before drier air pours into our area by sunrise on Sunday. 1-2″ of rain with locally higher amounts are in the forecast for most WCCB Charlotte communities through Sunday morning.
The weekend will end on a cooler and breezier note, as Piedmont highs end up in the 50s, while 30s and 40s may be as warm as it gets in the High Country and Foothills, respectively. Northwesterly flow may lead to another significant snow event in our mountain counties. Plentiful sunshine will carry into the start of next week as near-normal temperatures in the 40s and 50s stick around for the final few days of January.
