MILLERS CREEK, N.C. – A motorcyclist was killed in Wilkes County after attempting to pass another vehicle on a highway Saturday afternoon.
At around 2:20 p.m., Tyler Williams, 23, was driving his 2023 Yamaha motorcycle southbound on NC 16 near Shingle Gap Road.
Williams attempted to pass another southbound vehicle in a no-passing zone, according to a North Carolina State Patrol crash report. In the process, he collided into a 2022 Toyota Tacoma attempting to turn left into a parking lot.
Williams was ejected from his motorcycle and died at the scene as a result of his injuries.
The Toyota driver, 44-year-old Micah Henry, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Wilkes Medical Center.
Impairment is not believed to be a contributing factor to the crash, according to authorities.
Police say no charges will be filed in this case.
