Report: Laundry Pod Consumption Down But Still A Concern
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Fewer children appear to be ingesting pods filled with laundry detergent.
For years, there have been warnings about the risk of exposure or ingestion of the liquid inside laundry detergent pods.
New research shows they still pose a problem. The most recent three years of study found more than 36,000 calls were made related to children ingesting laundry pods.
Researchers also found increases among older children, noting dangerous social media challenges.
“There’s opportunity from an industry and policy perspective to really strengthen these product safety standards,” Doctor Christopher Gaw said.
Doctor Gaw said it’s always a good idea to store the laundry detergent out of reach of little hands and to keep them in the original container.
